Who is a pedicure for?

A pedicure at SIMEHA Institut is for women and men who want well-kept feet and neat nails, with or without polish. It is a beauty treatment, carried out in a salon, and not a medical one.

People come before summer, when feet are on show again. They also come in winter, when the skin on the heels thickens inside closed shoes. If you walk a lot or stand all day, you can make it a regular appointment.

If you have an ingrown nail, a fungal infection or pain in your foot, see a podiatrist or a doctor first. We do not treat these problems.

Which foot treatments do we offer?

We offer two kinds of foot care, two pedicures with polish and two polish-only treatments. Each one has a fixed duration and a fixed price.

  • Complete foot care with spa (1 h, CHF 85): spa bath, scrub, cuticle care, filing and a moisturising massage.
  • Express foot care (30 min, CHF 45): the short treatment, for upkeep between two complete ones.
  • Pedicure + regular polish (1 h, CHF 55).
  • Pedicure + gel polish (1 h, CHF 65).
  • Polish on toes: regular (CHF 23) or gel (CHF 30), in 30 min.
  • Complete spa pedicure for men (30 min, CHF 60).

What happens during foot care with spa?

Complete foot care with spa, at SIMEHA Institut, has five steps: the bath, the scrub, cuticle care, filing and the massage. It takes 1 h.

  1. The spa bath relaxes the feet and softens the skin.
  2. The scrub removes dead skin.
  3. Cuticle care clears the edge of the nail.
  4. Filing gives the nails an even shape.
  5. The moisturising massage ends the treatment.

If you add a polish, it is applied at the end, on a clean, dry nail. Bring open shoes if you are leaving with a regular polish, which needs time to dry. Gel polish, cured under a lamp, does not need this precaution.

Regular or gel polish on toes?

On toes, both regular and gel polish generally last longer than on hands, because toenails take fewer knocks. At the salon, polish on its own costs CHF 23 for regular and CHF 30 for gel.

Regular polish is often enough for an occasion or for a holiday. Gel polish suits you if you want a colour that stays neat for several weeks with no touch-ups. Either way, let the nail breathe from time to time between two applications.

Tips before and after your pedicure

Before a pedicure, simply come with clean feet; there is nothing else to prepare. After the treatment, moisturise your feet regularly to keep the skin supple.

Before your appointment:

  • do not cut your nails too short in the days before;
  • take off your old regular polish if you can;
  • tell the beautician about any injury or sensitive area.

After your appointment:

  • apply a foot cream in the evening, especially on the heels;
  • dry your feet well between the toes after a shower;
  • avoid tight shoes on the day itself if you have a regular polish.
