What is Kobido?
Kobido is a facial massage of Japanese origin, done entirely by hand. It combines slow movements with quick, rhythmic ones on the face, the neck and the upper chest. SIMEHA Institut offers it under the name Kobido Expert Lift.
The word comes from Japanese. Kobido differs from classic facials in its technique: no device, few products, and very precise handwork on the muscles and skin of the face.
It is one of our facials. If you prefer a device-based treatment, see the Hydrafacial page.

Who is Kobido for?
Kobido is for women and men who want a manual facial and a real moment to relax. It is often chosen by people who do not like devices or whose face is tense from stress or screen work.
It suits all ages. Some people choose it to relax, others for the look of their skin. Both expectations are fair, but a massage remains a wellness treatment: we promise no measured result, and Kobido replaces neither a medical treatment nor an aesthetic medicine procedure.
Massage is generally not advised on irritated skin, after a recent procedure on the face or during an ongoing skin problem. If that is your case, talk to the beautician before you book, on WhatsApp for example.
What happens during a Kobido session?
A Kobido session at the salon takes place in a treatment room, lying down, and lasts 1 h. It starts with a skin cleanse, continues with the massage itself and ends with a rest.
In its usual form, Kobido follows this progression:
- Preparation: the skin is cleansed and an oil or a cream is applied so that the hands glide.
- Slow movements: smoothing strokes relax the face, the neck and the shoulders.
- Quick movements: light tapping and rhythmic pinching, which are the signature of Kobido.
- Winding down: gentle movements end the treatment.
The beautician adapts the pressure to your sensitivity. If a movement bothers you, simply say so.
Kobido or Hydrafacial: which one to choose?
Kobido is a manual massage; the Hydrafacial is a cleansing treatment carried out with a device. Both take 1 h at the salon, for CHF 139 and CHF 149.
| Kobido Expert Lift | Hydrafacial Signature | |
|---|---|---|
| Technique | By hand | With a device |
| What the treatment does | Massage of the face, neck and upper chest | Cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, hydration |
| Duration | 1 h | 1 h |
| Price | CHF 139 | CHF 149 |
Choose Kobido if you are looking first for relaxation and handwork. Choose the Hydrafacial if you are looking first for a skin cleanse.
Tips before and after a Kobido
Before a Kobido, there is almost nothing to prepare: come as you are, the treatment starts with a cleanse. After the treatment, take the time to drink water and let your skin rest.
Before your appointment:
- take out your contact lenses if they make you sensitive;
- mention any recent procedure on your face, an allergy or a treatment;
- for men, shave the day before if you can: hands glide better on smooth skin.
After your appointment:
- avoid putting on make-up straight away;
- drink water;
- keep the evening calm if you can, to make the relaxation last.
